Operations & Sustainability Improvements
Intelligent design. Seamless delivery. Sustainable outcomes.
Rockvolt partners with venues and event owners to shape operations that work - functionally, logistically, and environmentally. From venue design to FM execution, we deliver systems that don’t just look good on paper - they perform in practice.
Design & Build: Where Form Meets Function
A great venue doesn’t just look good - it works. Our Design & Build service ensures operational functionality is baked into the architectural process from the earliest stages. We collaborate directly with architects, venue teams, and contractors to align aesthetics with real-world operational requirements.
That means designing for efficient crowd flow, logical service zones, sustainable infrastructure, and practical back-of-house access. We bring operational foresight into design conversations to help you avoid costly reworks later and ensure the space works hard for its purpose - day one and beyond.
Operational Improvements: FM Performance
Behind every seamless event is a well-oiled delivery system. Rockvolt helps venues improve the way hard and soft services - like cleaning, maintenance, waste, catering, and stewarding - are specified, structured, and executed.
We review your current operating model and supply chain, identify inefficiencies, and implement tailored improvements that boost performance and consistency. Whether you're re-tendering FM contracts or reshaping internal delivery, we’ll ensure services align with your operational goals and customer expectations.

Sustainability: Systems That Actually Work
Sustainability only matters if it’s real. Rockvolt helps you go beyond green promises by embedding practical, measurable, and effective sustainability systems into your operational infrastructure. We understand ESG and the practicalities embedded within the frameworks.
From low-energy installations to improved recycling logistics, sustainable material choices, community projects, and carbon tracking systems, we don’t just advise - we implement. We ensure sustainability goals are supported by the right training, infrastructure, processes, and governance - so your targets are achievable, trackable, compliant and credible.

Rockvolt at Therme, Manchester
Helping to create the world’s most advanced wellbeing resort
Rockvolt supported Therme during the initial design phase of its landmark Manchester development, scheduled to open in late 2028, by providing specialist operational insight into the planning of soft services. Working alongside the project team and design consultants, Rockvolt advised on the concept design and early floor plan layouts to ensure that the operational requirements of cleaning and waste services were fully considered from the outset. This early involvement helped integrate practical service routes, storage areas, and logistical flows into the wider design, reducing the risk of inefficiencies or costly rework later in the build programme.
In addition to advising on the physical layout, Rockvolt contributed recommendations around operational delivery models, staffing logistics, and service resilience to support the scale and complexity of Therme’s offer. By shaping how soft service teams could best operate within the facility, Rockvolt ensured that considerations such as guest experience, sustainability, and health and safety were embedded into the development’s foundations. This collaboration provided Therme with a robust and future-proofed design approach that balances world-class visitor experience with the practicalities of daily operations.
-
Therme is developing a flagship wellbeing resort in Manchester, planned to open in late 2028. As one of the largest projects of its kind in the UK, the scale and complexity of the development required early consideration of how essential soft services - particularly cleaning and waste - would operate within the facility. Without embedding these operational requirements during the initial design phase, there was a risk of inefficiencies, logistical bottlenecks, and increased costs during later stages of construction or post-opening operations.
-
Rockvolt was engaged to provide insight and advice throughout the concept design stage. Working collaboratively with Therme’s project team and design consultants, Rockvolt reviewed and influenced floor plans, layout proposals, and service routes to ensure operational needs were fully integrated. This included identifying appropriate back-of-house provisions, optimising circulation for waste and cleaning logistics, and advising on delivery models and staffing considerations. By aligning practical operational requirements with the ambitious design vision, Rockvolt helped create a blueprint that supports both efficiency and guest experience.
-
The outcome of Rockvolt’s involvement was a future-proofed operational framework that is embedded within the resort’s concept design. Soft service logistics are now strategically integrated into the plans, providing Therme with confidence that cleaning and waste teams will be able to deliver effectively from day one. This approach safeguards service resilience, sustainability, and health and safety while ensuring the overall visitor experience remains at the heart of the development. Rockvolt’s contribution has positioned Therme to progress confidently into later design and build stages with operational excellence firmly built into the project foundations.

Rockvolt at Ascot Racecourse
Progressing sustainability with best practice at one of world’s most iconic venues
Rockvolt has played a central role in supporting Ascot Racecourse’s transition toward a progressive Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) model over the past few years. Working in close collaboration with the leadership team, Rockvolt helped to shape and define a sustainability framework built around three core pillars: Planet, Community, and People. This structured approach provided a clear focus for embedding ESG principles into both race day and non-race day operations, ensuring that environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and workforce wellbeing were integrated into the racecourse’s long-term strategy.
Through this framework, Rockvolt guided Ascot in aligning operational practices with wider ESG commitments, from waste reduction and energy efficiency to community engagement and staff welfare initiatives. By coordinating efforts across departments and ensuring a consistent application of the Planet, Community, and People pillars, Rockvolt helped establish a practical yet ambitious roadmap for sustainable operations. This work has positioned Ascot not only as a leading sports and leisure venue but also as a forward-thinking organisation committed to making a positive impact on its environment, local community, and workforce.
-
As one of the world’s most prestigious sporting venues, Ascot Racecourse recognised the growing need to embed sustainability and social responsibility into its operations. With complex requirements spanning both race day and non-race day activities, the racecourse needed a clear, structured approach to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. The challenge lay in creating a framework that was ambitious yet practical, aligned with Ascot’s heritage and brand values, and able to drive meaningful change across the organisation.
-
Rockvolt was engaged to help define and coordinate the racecourse’s ESG journey. Working with senior stakeholders, Rockvolt implemented a sustainability framework developed by BASIS that centred on three core pillars: Planet, Community, and People. This model provided a strong foundation to align environmental initiatives, community engagement, and staff wellbeing under a cohesive strategy. Rockvolt facilitated collaboration across departments, guided the integration of sustainable practices into daily operations, and ensured that both race day and non-race day activities reflected the framework’s priorities.
-
The adoption of the Planet, Community, and People pillars has enabled Ascot to make measurable progress in reducing its environmental footprint, strengthening its ties with the local community, and supporting the wellbeing of its workforce. Rockvolt’s role in shaping and coordinating this framework has helped the racecourse transition toward a progressive ESG model of working, embedding sustainability at the core of its identity. This has positioned Ascot not only as a leader in sport and leisure but also as a forward-thinking organisation committed to long-term positive impact.
